2nd Annual Creating Change Campaign Gala

Sickle Cell Awareness

The Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children Sickle Cell Division  works to improve the quality of life for children affected by sickle cell in Mississippi.  On Friday, March 11, 2016, I hosted a Black Tie Gala with a Silent Auction to join the movement toward a world free of Sickle Cell Disease.  My celebration was an illustration of continuous movement in the third decade of my life, but more importantly a surge of efforts towards the awareness and research development of those affected by SCD.  The night began with photo opportunities along the red carpet with D’Angelique Photography that lead to the silent auction.  The auction displayed phenomenal pieces of artwork by Jackson, Mississippi’s own, Ayatti Hatcher and Christopher Windfield. Immediately following, cocktail hour with DJ JoNasty preceded a delectable meal and the fundraiser program. The event was hosted by Terryal ‘Teezy’ Thomas. I along with Dr. Suvankar Majumdar, representative from Blair E. Batson Hospital Children’s Cancer Center, and Frederick B. Cole, Jr. addressed Sickle Cell Disease awareness and the importance of fundraising for those affected.  Many came out to support the 2nd Annual Creating Change Campaign.  I would like to thank our sponsor CATHEAD Vodka and Distillery, as well as all individuals and other organizations involved in assisting with the Gala. I would like to thank Jamaa Inc., DJ PM, DJ JoNasty, Terryal ‘Teezy’ Thomas, and Batson Children’s Hospital Sickle Cell Division members for your services and support. Also, I would like to thank artists, Ayatti Hatcher and Christopher Windfield, as well as the purchasers of each piece of art for their contributions. Last, I would like to give a special thanks to every person who attended the Gala. I am still overwhelmed with the success of the event. Thank you for joining me in efforts to support this great movement within the Sickle Cell community.  It gives me great pleasure to continue my mission and legacy of giving back annually through the Creating Change Campaign.  I look forward to seeing all my supporters and more at the 3rd Annual event as we campaign on creating awareness for the behalf of those affected by Lupus.  Look for more great things to come in the future. https://www.facebook.com/batsonhospital
